The concerts of the trio Les Chemins de Traverse are small recitals made of a selection of works, generally introduced by some text. Their repertoire goes from the baroque period to the music of this century. The programmes of their concerts count works of different periods and styles. The pieces made for three concert C flutes (the instrument that we listen to the most frequently) alternates with scoring pieces less common thanks to the use of the alto flute, the bass flute and the piccolo.

The literature for the trios of flutes is abundant: nevertheless, it is only rarely given in concert and is still not very well known by the non-flautists (and sometimes even by the flautists themselves!). Yet, it is rich and varied and addressed to all kind of public. The trio Les Chemins de Traverse would be happy to bring it to light to anyone who will follow them.

For some years, the musicians have been ordering musical creations to composers in order to enrich their repertoire and bring to light the current music to their audience. During season 2004-2005, they performed with a programme named “RéCréation” made of works of three young French Swiss composers. In 2006, the trio asked the composer Laurent Mettraux, from Fribourg, to compose for them a piece which would increase the value of the different flutes of the unit. This order was created in spring 2007 within a series of concerts named “XS, S, M, L – or the flutes in four different sizes”. To celebrate their tenth anniversary, the trio intends to play all the works written for them in a concert which would be a kind of retrospective. This programme will be completed by a new creation of the composer Eric Gaudibert.
